Another easy choice: Chomolangma (Mt. Everest) National Park! With 5 of the world’s fourteen 8000-meter peaks (Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu and Shishapangma) within it’s boundaries, this park deserves to be on everyone’s Bucket List. Although improved road conditions mean it can be reached in 2 days from either Kathmandu or Lhasa, it’s best to spend several extra days en route to acclimatize properly before ascending to Dza Rongphu (Rongbuk) monastery (16,300′, 5000m), the world’s highest monastery and one of the best places for viewing Mt Everest. Bring a warm jacket!
